The Chakra Lounge
Nestled right in the heart of Sheffield City Centre, The Chakra Lounge at 5 Fitzalan Square brings a breath of fresh air to the local café scene. It’s one of those spots you stumble upon when you’re not even trying, and then it becomes your go-to for just about everything-from a casual solo brunch to a midweek laptop session with a side of turmeric & cardamom latte.
The vibe? Think warm, inclusive, and unapologetically soulful. This isn’t just a café; it’s a hybrid of flavours, culture, and creativity, with a strong lean into health-conscious dining. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or just someone who appreciates honest, wholesome food, The Chakra Lounge makes you feel seen.
For those chasing the perfect breakfast, the Punjabi Vegan Thali and Avocado Toast both make strong opening acts. The thali hits differently-with its blend of vibrant spices and textures, it's a plate that feels like comfort and celebration all at once. If you're more into brunch with a Western twist, the Breakfast Waffles stacked with flavour are a definite win.
Caffeine lovers, brace yourselves. The coffee menu is a playground. Start with the Cappuccino if you’re a traditionalist, or go bold with their Dirty Chai-that spicy-sweet chai with a kick of espresso? Absolute magic. And for those who prefer tea, the Masala Chai and Green Emerald & Matcha Smoothie are crowd favourites, often mentioned for their depth of flavour and the perfect balance between earthy and refreshing.
If you’ve ever thought health food can’t be fun, the Masala Cheese Toast and Curried Lamb Wrap are here to prove otherwise. They bridge that gap between indulgence and nutrition, offering dishes that are both comforting and mindful. That’s where The Chakra Lounge shines-it’s not about restriction, it’s about balance.
Their Coffee and Cake combo deserves its own spotlight. Many regulars rave about the dessert selection, especially those who want something sweet without feeling weighed down. Vegan and vegetarian options are not just afterthoughts here-they’re the stars of the menu.
On the convenience front, The Chakra Lounge checks all the right boxes. It’s got dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options. Outdoor seating? Absolutely. And it’s fully accessible-wheelchair-friendly entrances, seating, and restrooms make it inclusive and easy to navigate. The setup is also ideal for working remotely; there’s a steady stream of laptop warriors who park here with a latte and let the hours slip by.
What sets this place apart from many cafés in the area is its genuine commitment to sustainability and health without compromising flavour. With offerings like organic dishes, small plates, and free water refills, it’s built for those who care about what they consume. It doesn’t scream “healthy” with bland salads-everything is thoughtfully curated and full of personality.
Another underrated detail? The staff. Friendly without being pushy, always ready to recommend something new, and often remembering your last order like a friend would. That kind of service gives the whole place a welcoming, community-driven edge that many chain cafés just can’t replicate.
The Chakra Lounge isn’t trying to be trendy-it’s effortlessly cool because it focuses on experience over aesthetics. And let’s be honest, finding a spot that serves vegan-friendly Bhel Puri alongside a Turmeric Latte while offering a calm corner to work or unwind? That’s rare. It’s Sheffield’s little gem that doesn’t shout for attention-but once you’ve been, you’ll definitely come back.
Reviews
I recently came across this amazing café as I walked from my hotel, looking for a place to lunch, and the name intrigued me. As I stepped in, the beautiful interiors and aroma of flavours welcomed me and I knew I was going to be a regular here during my stay. The perfect blend of a lively, cosy space, with a great menu, serving a fusion of western dishes with an Indian twist, delivered with a smile - what more do you want on a sunny day! Bun samosa, the lavish English breakfast spread, Rajmah rice, Butter chicken and masala chai were the absolute favourites!! It’s a must to eat here if you’re in Sheffield, as it’s an experience one would regret if missed. Kudos to the team & owners for building such an awesome brand!
March 2025 – It’d been a while since I last visited Chakra Lounge in Sheffield, where I had previously enjoyed one of their evening events. More recently, my foodie friend Sophie (@chef_in_sheff) and I visited their Sheffield branch for a weekend breakfast. Why I’d never been for breakfast here before, is beyond me, as it was incredible. With a vast menu of delectable Desi-style breakfast/brunch dishes with an English touch, you’re sure to find something to set off your taste buds with the ancient flavour of India! From a wide range of adventurously flavoured hot and cold drinks to a fully vegetarian & vegan food menu, we were overcome with so many amazing options. We enjoyed; ⭐I went for the Breakfast Waffles with vegan sausages, avo & pea smash, halloumi, fried onion, fennel-nut mix, drizzles with maple syrup. I added a fried egg on top (of course) and the hash browns (). Wow, this was stacked high! It was incredible. I really didn’t need that much food, but I loved it! ⭐Sophie went with the Desi English Breakfast which is completely vegan as a standard with vegan sausages, hash browns, masala chickpeas and smashed avocado & added halloumi and scrambled eggs – this was a massive plateful! A bit too much for one, but it looked fantastic! ⭐Chakra Masala chai, a hazelnut mocha and the famous iced matcha and rose latte which was subtle but beautiful! ⭐We may have taken some bakes home too for the boys (or us really haha) Wow, what a delightful morning. This café is gorgeously decorated to enjoy a tranquil time whilst trying out some of the most delicious Indian-inspired, authentic food and drinks. They also have a downstairs area, popular for peaceful workspaces. Spend: £15 – £25pp ⏰ Open Hours: Mon-Thur 10-5, Fri&Sat 9-6 & Sun 9-4 Parking info: N/a – city centre Takeaway/Delivery: UberEats & Deliveroo
Great cafe with excellent food, interesting choices and friendly service. Also great value for money for the quality of the offering. Was a perfect venue for brunch
Such a brilliant find. Chakra Lounge offers fantastic food with brilliant service. Our server, Harvey, was incredibly friendly and helpful and helped us navigate the impressive menu. Both our dishes were excellent and we also took a cronut with us as a takeaway. Great food, great service in a relaxed and chilled out venue.
Popped in here for a quick lunch not expecting much but oh boy was I wrong. First of all, everyone in there was very friendly and the atmosphere was very welcoming and clean. At first we thought the menu was quite pricey (Around 12 pounds for most items) but after getting the food we concluded that it was definitely worth the price. I had the Dhaba Chicken and every single bite was so flavourful, the mix of savoury spice from the curry, sweetness from the oranges, the sour tanginess from the pickles, and the aroma from the greens just work so well together. The ingredients tasted so fresh as well. One of the best westernised Indian food I’ve ever tried. Highly recommended.
